Hey there ladies!
Now that I am part of the Nars Industry, I feel like my makeup love has just gotten deeper! I was recently at a Nars show and we got to try the new lip pencils in Satin as well as the new Nars Concealers! IM HOOKED! The pencils come in a huge array of colors now. My favorite way to apply them to clients is to use the Matte Pencil first, as the base, and then follow with the Satin Pencil over it to make it a long lasting pop of color. What can I say about the concealers? They are amazing! I purchased them in all the shades because I knew after seeing them applied on the model that Id found my favorite. Its creamy, pigmented, sweat proof and (BEST) not cake-y! I hope you all get to try them soon, and let me know what you think! Look for the Nars Summer Collection out soon.
With the holidays in a matter of weeks (finally!) its time to start thinking about what you are going to be putting on your lips to last through the holiday work parties and family days to come! Maybe even a bit of champagne as well… you need to start with a moisturized pout and the rest is up to you! Below are a few of my all time and new time favorites! Enjoy.. and yeah, go for it, indulge a little on Sephora.com
Smith’s Rosebud Salve
What it is: this cult favorite is a staple in mine and thousands of women’s bag because of its versatility and rosy smell. It softens your pout but it also is good for dry skin, dry cuticles and blemishes.
How it feels: one word - amazing
Why we love it: even in the coldest winter you won’t even think about having chapped lips, and you’ll never have dry spots if you use it everyday.
YSL Lip Stain
What it is: a combo of gloss and stain in one
How it feels: very light weight texture, smooth
Why we love it: it comes with a brush for flawless application, it never gets a dry feeling like some stains do, and it comes 20 gorgeous colors
YSL Rouge Volupte in Fetish Pink
What it is: Creamy lip color
How it feels: almost feels as if its fluid, very creamy
Why we love it: lasting power, big variety in hues, and creaminess
Nars Matte Lip Pencil
What it is: a combo of lipstick and lip liner
What it feels like: enriched with vitamin E this pencil feels velvety and still leaves a very matte finish in the end
Why we love it: its connivence of having the two in one, beautiful shades, easy use and long lasting power
Its time to ditch all of our old products from summer/fall and start getting our winter products in place. Here are a few face saving, glowifying, and beautiful new items every girl should try out and put into their winter break essentials lists! (or to leave with a loved one for a holiday hint!)
What does every woman want besides amazing hair? Amazing skin… and to look just a bit fresher and younger after applying her makeup. One of the best things for skin to appear its best is illuminator. If you have mature skin, liquid is best. You can use powder or liquid to highlight the face where the sun would naturally hit at. You want to use just a bit above your cheekbones. A few of my favorite highlighters are:
What it is: a liquid, slightly creamy illuminator for the face
How it feels: very soft and light
Why we love it: it creates a very refreshed look and a shimmering incandescence. Basically makes you feel like a goddess
Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer
What it is: a liquid illuminator that can be mixed into a base or dabbed along the face for a highlighter
How it feels: very light and thin in texture
Why we love it: When dabbed along your bones it blends really well into your base foundation with a perfect healthy glow, and matches many skin tones because it comes in many shades.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick: Rose
What it is: a multi-tone of rose hues for the face/eyes with shimmery glow
How it feels: even with the hints of shimmer the powder version of glow feels very light and never cakey
Why we love it: Not only does this face brick bring you a rosy glow, it also can double power as shadow! Its an amazing addition to any makeup lovers kit.
Hello Ladies! Its that time of year again! So excited I can finally leave my flip flops behind for some boots and leggings, but what is better than that? UM these amazing new Essie colors for their latest collection! I really am so in love with all of them. I loved the spring trend of the mint color palette so I am esctatic they darkened it up for fall! You can find all of the new additions on Essie.com!! “Leading Lady” is a perfect add on to any of your holiday gifts for the Leading Ladies in your life! Happy Fall!
Hello Ladies! Today I want to go over a look that will allow you to basically roll out of bed, but this less than ten minute look will have you feeling bright and lovely! You can finally finish that cup of coffee with this time saving must have.
First, I am OBSESSED with the top knot (in all of its forms)! It can be sleek and chic or messy and lovely. You will only need couple tools to make this perfect - I have no time to do my hair! - look! From Beach, to the office…. this look can really have it all.
1. Start by pulling your hair into a slicked back (preferrably your hair is pretty straight when slicking it up), high ponytail.
2. If you have naturally thick and wavy hair, go head and skip to the next step. If not, split your tight ponytail into four parts and tease it gently at the base just to get a little extra volume (and adds thickness for the women with thin or fine hair). Pull all the hair back together and brush to smooth the top layer.
3. Divide your hair into two parts and begin twisting them around each other from the base of the ponytail. Feel free to make your own personal changes to it! Its suppose to be fun!
For a messy version: Wind the hair in different directions, stopping midway through the ponytail and switching directions. Fold left over pieces of hair over each other and let the hair fall where it may.
For a cleaner bun: Wind two sections of the ponytail around each other all the way to the end, then wrap the whole thing neatly around the ponytail holder like a ballerina bun.
4. Use small and large bobby pins to hold style in place. Begin by pinning the base of the bun to keep it in place, then pin the fall out pieces with pins.
5. End the style with a bit of hairspray to keep it in place.
Va va voom! Your hair took 5 minutes and you look on point with trend.
Below are a few of my favorite Messy Buns/Top Knots to inspire you!
I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
Such a pretty Uptini! And that hair color is beyond words.
On the news! Blowing away :)

As summer is on its way… well lets face it I like to think of spring as one of the seasons I wouldn’t mind just fast forwarding right though - pale pinks and lilacs just arent really my thing, allergies and flowery dresses? Mmmm no. So while that is all happening Id just like to focus on getting into great shape for a fun summer. Its good for your body and mind to work out outdoors but its very important to make it good for your skin too. Its a proven fact from medical research that the suns rays actually makes you release endorphins as sex does, but those sun rays need to be a little deflected by sunscreen.
Hands down BEST working out sunscreen….
Neutrogena Wet Skin
It is the easiest and safest way to stay protected all year long on your body. If you are an active girl, this is for you! It is powering through sweat, humidity, and swimming.
I’ve always know to moisturize on a regular basis to leave your skin in great condition and that SPF needs to be like a religion to you to keep that skin cancer away, but now Im becoming a ritualist about it like I always should have been! And you should too. Putting the products in the right places in my place is actually what made me change. Random… but it works.
Vaseline - Aloe Fresh “Protecting”
I have always used whatever lotion smells good or came with my perfume at the time but recently I went on a hunt to find one to use ALL the time and that comes with benefits more than what scent it allured me with. This one was voted Allures Best of Beauty award so I knew that was a good start. It is sunscreen and lotion? PERFECT. Its got a fresh scent, not sticky at all, light weight feeling and absorbs easily into skin.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer - Dry Touch Sunblock
This one is the best for my face, with or without makeup. Always apply it 15 minutes before you have any exposure to the sun and then put your other facial products on top of it. Sun screen will NOT penetrate your skin if it is not put on first, remember that. It is waterproof, sweat proof, comes in many ranges of SPF quality, is #1 dermatologist recommended and has antioxidants and vitamins A, C, and E.
EOS - Evolution of Smooth Shave Cream (Vanilla Bliss)
This stuff is literally going to be in the shower for the rest of my life. I have never been a fan of shaving creams by any company before. I have sensitive skin on my legs and they always just kind of burn my skin, but I really wanted to try something to make my stems less dry and this baby did the trick. It is paraben-free with shea butter and natural aloe. It smells amazing and I can shave every single day without getting cuts and my legs really do feel a lot softer.
Dove Visible Care - Toning Creme Body Wash
“More beautiful skin from a body wash? Absolutely.” This company’s tag line for their line of Visible Care products kind of says it all. There are a few reasons I love this product: the way it smells, that it kind of in between a creme and a liquid, and that my skin feels like I just put lotion on and clean at the same time. A beauty bloggers new must have.
Happy holidays everyone! Its not summer anymore so its time to put away those cosmetic goodies and bring in some new and old favorites. As the weather gets colder, the colors get bolder.. and the gift sets get better! The holidays is a great time to get some beauty bargains and those sets that only come once a year. Often our favorite items will come in a gift bag now with a few samples of new items to try out. Lets take a looks at what 2011 has to offer!
Laura Mercier - Baked Shadow Palette $48
This year she introduced her baked shadows to the world… and now shes letting you try them ALL out for the price of two! You’ll want to play with this all day! These are GREAT shades with a lot of pigment and you can use them wet and dry. It includes shades of warm bronze, cool pink, and smoky lilac in raised Baked Eye Colour textures, plus a mini Double-Ended Eye Colour/ Crème Eye Detail Brush for flawless application.
Clinique - Acne Solutions Cleansing Face and Body Soap $14
Now we all know that our skin starts acting a little different with the weather changing… so if you are starting to have break outs this is the product for you. Its a mild and medicated soap for both your face and body. The bar leaves your skin feeling super clean and smelling very, very fresh! It is developed for all skin types and it has encapsulated salicylic acid to fight the changes.
